Some soldiers were questioning him, saying, “And what about us, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Do not take money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages.” Luke 3:14
This verse speaks to me about how we need to have integrity in our financial dealings, by not taking money or things from people using coercion, lies or other negative means. It also talks about being content in the situation we’re in, not envying others position or wealth, and being ok with the situation we’re in because we have a strong faith and hope for the future. Does that mean we can’t strive for more, and work hard to achieve more? Of course not. But it does impress upon me how happiness is a choice, and we make the choice to be content or unhappy – every day.
