Update 10/18/21: Still available (per u/tips48).
Update 10/13/21: This is still available in branches, reportedly. Hopefully it remains there for a bit. Referral links have died so branch is the last option.
Update 10/6/21: As of today, the branch offer with waived annual fee is still available. Hat tip to reader Dan
Update 7/18/21: Multiple readers are reporting that beginning today, July 18, the branch offer is 100,000 points with the annual fee waived. That’s the same offer as it was until now with the exception of the $50 grocery credit which is no longer available. This branch offer is still better than the regular online offer of 100,000 which does not have the annual fee waiver. Some will prefer paying the $95 fee and using a referral instead.
Update 7/3/21: This will be available in Chase branches through July 17, 2021, according to Travelsort.
Update 6/21/21: As of today, this offer is still available in branch. Possibly through the end of June. Hat tip to reader Dave_B)
Original Post:
You can apply now in a Chase branch for the new 100,000 points Sapphire Preferred signup bonus and get the $95 annual fee waived, plus a $50 credit to offset grocery purchases.
Here’s how it’ll work: during signup the offer will be showing the older offer of 80,000 points after spending $4,000, waived $95 annual fee, and $50 grocery credit. After meeting the spend, you’ll get the 80,000 points bonus and you’ll also automatically get a separate credit for 20,000 points. This is detailed in a memo being sent out to bankers, see below.
We wrote earlier today that the 100,000 offer is already available in some branches, yet readers reported being told that they were only being told about the 80,000 + $50 offer. In fact, some of the official signage will continue to show the 80,000 offer, but Chase has assured bankers that an additional 20,000 points will automatically be applied once the spend is met. Both points bonuses will credit on the same statement when you meet the spend, as detailed in the memo.
Best is to try confirming with your banker before applying since it’s possible these details vary by branch. Personally, if I’m not able to verify with the banker, I’d just apply in-branch and hope for the best that this is the case.
The Chase memo seems to indicate that this triple-header offer will be available through the end of June. However, my guess (based on earlier reports) is that it’ll end on June 17th. The beginning date for the triple offer was on June 3rd: if you applied in a Chase branch since that date, you’re probably eligible automatically for the triple offer even if you weren’t told anything about it.
Let me just add this time again: if referral links come out with the 100,000 offer and you have a spouse who can refer you, it might still be a better deal (and more convenient) to do that. The referral bonus is typically either 10,000 points or 15,000 points (currently 15k, I believe). If you wait past June 17th you are risking losing the triple-header offer; it could make sense to wait another week or so to see if the referral offer gets updated and then just apply in branch if that doesn’t happen before the 17th.
Update 6/24/21: 100,000 offer (no fee waiver or $50) is now available via referrals.
