We all know that Carissa Moore can shred—the woman is a five-time World Surfing League world champion and Olympic gold medalist, after all. And we know that she has a heart of gold—she gives back to her community through her nonprofit, the Moore Aloha Charitable Foundation, which uses surfing and mentorship to shape young women into strong, confident and compassionate individuals.

What you may not know, is that Moore recently channeled her love of both into a swell new home décor and gift item collab with O‘ahu artist Frankie Frank and local label CocoNene, known for its laser-cut wood creations. “I wanted to create a collection with my friend and local artist, Frankie Franklin, that sparks joy and inspires the consumer to live the Moore Aloha way,” says Moore.
The 25-plus piece Moore Aloha x CocoNene collection includes picture frames, wood wall art, surf posters, metal prints, ornaments, luggage tags and keychains featuring splashy artwork inspired by the aloha spirit, Hawai‘i’s surf culture and female empowerment. “These Hawaiian-made products are a perfect daily reminder to live fearlessly, embrace your authenticity and lead with love,” explains Moore.

The frames covered with retro flowers and 3D wood surfer girls are my top picks, along with the inspiring Mana Wahine and Grow with the Flow art pieces. Moore herself is particularly stoked about the collection’s stationery (below). “I love everything! It’s hard to choose just a few [favorite] items but I especially love the card packs. I love writing notes to brighten someone’s day and can use them all year round.”
Best of all, 100% of the collection’s profits go toward supporting Moore Aloha’s programs and events. And Moore has big goals for the coming year. “In 2023, we are planning four in-person events, continuing our monthly essay scholarships and starting a mentorship and paid internship program.”
