A mere lover of silver will not be satisfied with silver, neither any lover of wealth with income. This too is vanity. ~ Ecclesiastes 5:10
This verse tells us what many of us probably already know, or sensed at some point. When you have money – you want more. When you get a raise, you want a bigger one. What we have is almost never enough. What is sad is that we spend so much of our lives chasing after something, only to find that it is, as the verse says, “vanity”.
My prayer for the day is that I will long for things of the kingdom of God, and for things that aren’t vain.
