Sample flights
Most of the cheapest routes go to Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan. However, certain cities also have discounted routes to Ponce and Aguadilla Pueblo.
These are some flights we’ve flagged:
- JetBlue: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Mercedita International Airport (PSE), starting at $197.
- American: Miami International Airport (MIA) to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), starting at $245.
- JetBlue: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to SJU, starting at $245.
- JetBlue: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to SJU, starting at $262.
- JetBlue: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to SJU, starting at $264.
- United: O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to SJU, starting at $309.
- JetBlue: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Rafael Hernández International Airport (BQN), starting at $331 (includes a layover in New York City).
- United: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to BQN, starting at $345 (includes a layover in Orlando).
We recommend finding your best dates through Google Flights and then booking your flights on the airline’s website; direct airline bookings are the most reliable in the event your flight is delayed, canceled or has a booking change.
Given the ample availability across many major U.S. airports, now couldn’t be a better time to book those flights to Puerto Rico. For a flight taking off from San Francisco to Aguadilla Pueblo, Google Flights shows JetBlue and United both have marked-down flights. The JetBlue flight costs $331, and the United one is slightly more expensive at $344.

Keep in mind, however, that if you decide to book your departing flight with JetBlue, Google Flights will recommend booking your returning flight to San Francisco with United to keep the round-trip fare at $331.
The fares featured in these deals only extend to basic economy. Even though in this case you may need to book your tickets through separate carriers, United and JetBlue’s basic economy classes are roughly similar — both don’t allow passengers to bring a carry-on or make changes to their tickets.
When booking your two flights separately, we recommend making sure you book one right after the other so the prices add up. In this case, if you look through JetBlue’s and United’s websites, the individual fares to and from Aguadilla Pueblo add up to around $331. JetBlue has one-way tickets to Aguadilla Pueblo starting at $185, and United has tickets back to San Francisco for as low as $146 (if you book basic economy with both airlines).

Bottom line
If you’re looking for a quick sunny escape from the long cold winters, then this deal is worth booking. Not only are the flights cheap, they also allow travelers to fly to multiple Puerto Rican cities including San Juan, Ponce and Aguadilla Pueblo.
Even though these cheap fares are for basic economy, which can be restrictive, it’s definitely a solid option if you’re looking to save on airfare. Flights to Puerto Rico typically cost at least $400, so some of these flights are discounted by as much as 50%.
