If you’re like most people, you enjoy eating out at (or ordering in from) restaurants. You shop for groceries weekly, if not more often. You stream your favorite shows and podcasts. You own or share a car.
The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card rewards you for doing all of these things, and it doesn’t charge an annual fee for the privilege. But it’s not perfect. Before you race to apply, make sure you understand its limitations as well.
What Is the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card?
The U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card is a rewards credit card with no annual fee.
Its rewards program is particularly generous on restaurant purchases, including takeout and delivery. It also pays above the 1-point-per-$1-spent baseline on purchases at gas stations, electric vehicle charging stations, grocery stores, and streaming service providers.
Altitude Go has some other notable features, including a 0% intro APR promotion on purchases and balance transfers (then 19.99% to 28.99% APR variable) and a one-time streaming credit after you make at least 11 monthly purchases with popular providers.
What Sets the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card Apart?
The U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card isn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it does stand out from the competition (in a good way) for several reasons:
Very good return on restaurant purchases. With Altitude Go, you earn 4 points per $1 spent on restaurant purchases, which works out to a 4% return on spending. Few if any other no-annual-fee credit cards match that.
0% intro APR promotion on purchases and balance transfers. Altitude Go has a 0% intro APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers (then 19.99% to 28.99% APR variable). Balance transfer promotions aren’t as common today as a few years ago, so it’s notable that Altitude Go offers both.
Annual streaming credit. It won’t make you rich, but Altitude Go’s annual $15 streaming credit helps you claw back some of your streaming service spending. You do need to make at least 11 monthly streaming purchases on your card each year to qualify.
Bonus rewards on EV charging purchases. Some credit cards that offer bonus rewards on gas station purchases don’t yet extend the benefit to electric vehicle charging purchases. This will change as EV adoption grows, but for now, Altitude Go is among a select group of go-to credit cards for EV owners.
Key Features of the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card
The U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card has an average to slightly above-average sign-up bonus, a generous rewards program, and an annual bonus for folks who consistently charge popular streaming service subscriptions on the card.
Sign-Up Bonus
Earn 20,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 in eligible purchases in the first 90 days. That’s worth $200 redeemable toward gift cards, merchandise, travel, cash back, and more.
Earning Rewards
Altitude Go has a generous rewards program that reserves its best earn rate — 4 points per $1 spent — for restaurant purchases, including takeout and delivery.
Purchases in several additional categories earn 2 points per $1 spent:
Gas stations
EV charging stations
Grocery stores and online grocery delivery services
Streaming services
All other eligible purchases earn 1 point per $1 spent.
Redeeming Rewards
You can redeem points for merchandise, travel, gift cards, cash, and other items. Minimum redemption amounts vary by item type. For example, cash redemptions (statement credits or bank account deposits) require a 2,500-point minimum ($25 value).
You can redeem at any time — no need to wait until the end of the statement cycle.
Annual Streaming Bonus
After you make 11 months of streaming purchases on your Altitude Go card, you receive a credit of $15. Dozens of popular streaming services are eligible, including but not limited to:
Amazon Music
Amazon Prime Video
Apple Music
Apple TV+
Discovery+
Disney+
ESPN+
HBO Max
Hulu
Netflix
Pandora
Paramount+
Peacock
Showtime
SiriusXM
Sling TV
Spotify
Starz
Stitcher
YouTube Music
YouTube Premium
YouTube TV
You’re limited to one $15 credit per year, regardless of how much you spend on streaming services.
Intro APR Promotion
Take advantage of 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months after account opening. After that, variable regular APR applies, currently 19.99% to 28.99%.
You must make qualifying balance transfers within 60 days of account opening.
Important Fees
There’s no annual fee or foreign transaction fee. The balance transfer fee is the greater of $5 or 3% of the transfer amount.
Credit Required
This card requires good to excellent credit. Any significant credit blemishes could affect your approval odds.
Advantages
The U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card has a lot going for it. Notable benefits include its strong (but not amazing) sign-up bonus, its generous and varied rewards program, and an additional perk for anyone who regularly consumes streaming content.
No annual fee. Altitude Go has no annual fee. If you want to use it for occasional spending in the favored categories, that’s fine — no need to worry about earning enough rewards to offset a recurring fee.
Excellent return on restaurant purchases. Altitude Go earns 4 points per $1 spent on restaurant purchases. That’s better than premium dining credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve Cards.
Bonus rewards on gas and EV charging purchases. Altitude Go rewards gas station and EV charging station purchases equally. This is a key benefit for the growing number of EV owners looking to recapture some of their charging expenses.
$15 annual streaming credit. Altitude Go’s annual streaming credit is enough to offset a month or so of Netflix. It’s not life-changing, but every little bit helps.
0% intro APR promotion on purchases and balance transfers. Altitude Go has matching 0% intro APR promotions: 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, then 19.99% to 28.99% APR variable. Many rewards credit cards only have intro purchase APR promotions.
Above-average (but not amazing) sign-up bonus. Altitude Go’s sign-up bonus is above-average for a no-annual-fee credit card. It’s easy to attain as well.
Disadvantages
The U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card has some downsides to consider before you apply. The low baseline rewards rate and relative lack of value-added features both deserve mention.
Low baseline rewards rate (1 point per $1 spent). Altitude Go earns just 1 point per $1 spent on most purchases. The bonus categories are broad enough that it’s easy to earn at a higher rate overall, but it would be nice to see 1.5 or 2 points per $1 spent on other purchases.
Few value-added benefits. Other than the annual streaming credit, Altitude Go has few value-added perks of note.
Rewards program has become less valuable over time. When it first hit the market, Altitude Go earned 4 points per $1 spent on gas station and EV charging purchases. Now, it earns 2 points per $1 spent in those categories. It’s still better than the baseline, but the decline is notable.
How the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Visa Signature Card Stacks Up
Altitude Go shares the spotlight with a bunch of other dining, grocery, streaming, and fuel credit cards.
One competitor that’s particularly interesting to us is the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which is widely recognized as a top travel and dining card. Before you apply for either, see how they compare.

Final Word
The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card is one of the best dining credit cards on the market. That Altitude Go has no annual fee makes this all the more impressive — most other top-tier dining credit cards do have annual fees.
Altitude Go has other perks too, including broad 2x rewards categories and an annual streaming bonus. Its sign-up bonus isn’t bad either. But it’s not perfect — no credit card is. If you’re looking for a card with higher baseline rewards on everyday spending or more value-added benefits, Altitude Go probably isn’t the best fit for you.

Fetch Rewards Review
What is Fetch Rewards?
I want to start my Fetch Rewards review with some basic information about the company and app. Fetch Rewards is based out of Madison, Wisconsin, and this shopping app has helped millions of people save money with the tap of a button as you simply scan physical and digital receipts.
Every month, over 11,000,000 people use Fetch Rewards. It is super easy to use Fetch and receive free gift cards.
I keep saying it’s simple because it really is! Every time you shop or dine out, you can scan your receipt into the Fetch Rewards app.
You can scan receipts from any grocery store, clothing store, pet store, home improvement store, club store, restaurant, gas station, and more. Basically, anywhere you shop, you can snap a picture of the receipt and scan it into Fetch.
You can even use your digital receipts from online purchases such as Amazon, Target, Instacart, and more by connecting your online accounts.
If you have a receipt, then you can scan it!
You earn points when you submit your receipts, and Fetch pays you in points that you can redeem for gift cards.
There are many redemption options. Here are some of the places you can receive gift cards from:
Starbucks
Dunkin Donuts
Amazon
Target
Visa gift cards
Airbnb
Old Navy
Ulta
Barnes & Noble
Bass Pro Shops
Instacart
Sam’s
BJ’s
Best Buy
Lowe’s
And so many more!
You can also decide to put your points towards charitable organizations, such as The Red Cross or the Clean Water Fund. You can even use your points to enter sweepstakes in the Fetch app.
Don’t worry, I’ll explain more about how to redeem your points further down in my Fetch Rewards review.
How does Fetch Rewards work?
Here’s how Fetch Rewards works:
Sign up and download Fetch Rewards by creating an account or connecting a Google or Facebook account account, and then make a password for your account.
Go shopping like you normally do.
Scan your first receipt and earn points. To do this, you simply go to your Fetch Rewards app and click on the orange circle at the bottom of your screen that says “Snap.” You then take a picture of your receipt. If you have a digital receipt, you can just tap on the blue circle instead.
Redeem your points for gift cards, make charitable donations, enter sweepstakes, and more.
I have personally used Fetch to prepare for my Fetch Rewards review, and I can promise you it’s just that simple!
How much can you earn with Fetch Rewards?
The amount you can earn on Fetch Rewards really depends on your spending, whether you are completing the Fetch Special Offers, and so on.
Because I am writing this Fetch Rewards review, I wanted to use the app for a while to give you the best review possible, and I was able to earn around $56 in free gift cards in 2-3 months by simply spending how I normally do. I didn’t put any additional effort in the app other than just scanning my shopping receipts.
As you can see, Fetch Rewards clearly won’t make you rich, but you can easily make a little extra money shopping like you normally do.
I also don’t think that I spent more than 20 minutes total in the Fetch app. It’s easy to use and only takes like 10 seconds to scan a receipt. You don’t have to do anything else.
What stores can I use for Fetch Rewards?
The great thing about Fetch Rewards is that you can use any retailer or store where you buy groceries, from big box stores, to mom and pop stores, to drug stores, convenience stores, hardware stores, liquor stores, gas stations, club stores (such as Costco), and more.
With any receipt I get, I scan it into the Fetch Rewards app. It takes less than a minute, and you earn points with every scan – so easy!
Plus, you don’t have to jump through any hoops to get points. You don’t need to pre-select the offers in the Fetch Rewards app or scan barcodes, plus there are no surveys or ads. Simply go shopping at your favorite retailers just like usual.
You simply scan your receipt after you are done shopping and earn points.
How many receipts can I scan on Fetch a day?
Fetch Rewards allows you to submit 35 receipts within a 7-day period. Electronic receipts that are processed on your account do not count toward the 35 receipt limit.
Other things to know about using Fetch Rewards:
Fetch Rewards works for stores located in the United States and Puerto Rico.
You have 14 days to scan your receipts to earn points.
When you scan your receipts, your receipt must include the store name, the items that you bought, the date of your purchase, the store’s address, and the total amount that you spent. All of that information is included on your receipt.
If you scan a receipt with a participating item from the Special Offers tab, then you will get bonus points.
If you have a long receipt, you simply just snap more pictures to make sure that your whole receipt is included.
You should never make fake receipts or scan the same receipt twice in order to try and get more points. This violates Fetch’s terms of service. Always be honest!
Does Fetch Rewards take gas receipts?
Yes, you can scan your gas receipts with Fetch Rewards.
If you’re looking to earn even more from your gas station purchases, then I recommend Upside.
Upside is an app that helps you find gas stations, groceries, and restaurants where you can earn cash back. You simply sign up for a free account, and then look at the Upside app to find places near you.
You can earn up to $0.25/gallon cash back at gas stations, up to 30% back on grocery purchases, and up to 45% back at restaurants.
You can check out Upside here to learn more.
Fetch Rewards Special Offers
What receipts give you the most points on Fetch?
There are several main ways that you can earn points on Fetch Rewards, such as:
Scanning receipts. When you purchase something, whether it be online or in-person, you can take a picture of your receipt with your cell phone and earn points. Every time you scan a receipt in the app, you will receive a minimum of 25 points.
Complete special offers. When you are logged into your Fetch Rewards account, you can see what products will give you the most points. As you can see in the image above, you simply just go to the Fetch Rewards App and go to the Discover tab. There, you will see what items will earn you the most points and extra points. Special offers can give you anywhere from 250 points to even over 5,000 points. New special offers are added almost every day too, so even if you don’t see something today, there may be something that interests you tomorrow. Now, you don’t have to look at the Discover page if you don’t want to – it’s simply just another way to earn more points. You can just use Fetch Rewards and scan your receipts without ever doing anything else in the Fetch Rewards app.
Refer friends and family. Sometimes, you can receive around 2,000 to 4,000 points by referring a new user. You can simply head to the Refer A Friend tab in the Fetch Rewards app to find your referral code.
Joining the Huggies Rewards+ Club.If you use Huggies diapers, you can earn up to 50,000 points by simply purchasing certain Huggies items, such as Huggies Diapers or Huggies Little Movers. Plus, you can get Huggies special offers points as well which are quite high as well.
Save on prescriptions. With Fetch, you can also save on your prescriptions. GoodRx is a free prescription price comparison tool that anyone can use. Simply head to your “Me” tab and click on GoodRx. You can then show this card when paying for prescriptions. You’ll get 10,000 points on your first prescription purchase, and then 1,500 points for future purchases and refills.
For me, I mainly just scan my receipts and refer others to Fetch Rewards. But if I wanted to earn more, there are several other great ways to increase the amount of rewards points that I can earn.
How many points equal a dollar on Fetch?
On average, 1,000 points equals $1 in rewards.
10,000 points is equivalent to around $10.
How do I redeem a free gift card from Fetch Rewards?
To redeem a Fetch reward, you will simply go to your Fetch account, and look at the bottom of the app. Look for the Rewards tab and tap on that.
Here, you will see what you can use your points on, such as:
Gift cards up to $50
Sweepstakes entries
Charitable organizations
Fetch merchandise, such as t-shirts
Then, you click on the button that shows how many points you want to use.
Next, you click on the orange button that says “Get My Reward” at the bottom.
You will then be asked to confirm that this is what you would like to do. It typically takes around three days to process your redemption request.
Once your reward is ready, you will get a notification. You can then go to your Rewards tab, then click on “My Rewards” to find your reward. Here, you will see your gift card code so that you can redeem your gift card at the company that you have chosen.
What’s the Fetch bonus code?
Fetch Rewards does not currently have an active bonus code. But, once they do, I will update this and let you know.
What is the catch with Fetch Rewards? How does Fetch Rewards make money? What does Fetch Rewards do with your receipts?
These are all great questions, and they are definitely things I want to cover in this Fetch Rewards review.
Fetch Rewards is so easy to use, but what’s in it for them? Why do they give out rewards and free gift cards just for scanning your receipts?
Fetch Rewards is paying you for the data they get from your receipt. They don’t see your name or other private or personal information. Instead, they are observing trends in shopper behavior. They then use this information to help their partners better understand their customer’s shopping habits.
Fetch Rewards also makes money by finding good deals for those who are signed up for Fetch Rewards. The Special Offers section in the Fetch Rewards app is an area where companies pay to be featured in this list, sort of like an advertisement. Companies know that they can get a lot of people looking at their company in the Fetch Rewards app, so they pay Fetch Rewards for this advertisement.
Is Fetch Rewards safe?
Yes, Fetch Rewards is safe to use.
They go through many steps to protect your personal information, and all of the data that they collect is anonymized and aggregated with everyone else’s, so your personal information is never shown.
Also, your receipts only show the last five digits of your credit card number, so you don’t have to worry about that being shared either because Fetch can’t see it.
Do my Fetch Rewards points expire?
If your Fetch Rewards account is not used for 90 days, then your points will expire. Your account will receive inactive status if you haven’t submitted any receipts or redeemed any rewards in a 90-day period.
This means that you just simply need to scan a receipt or redeem your Fetch points so your points never expire. If you get in the habit of scanning your receipts every time you shop, you shouldn’t have a problem with expiring points.
It’s very easy to stay active as pretty much everyone spends money in a 90-day period.
Is Ibotta or Fetch better?
Fetch Rewards and Ibotta are very similar.
Fetch Rewards is a little easier to use than Ibotta because all you need to do is scan your receipt into the Fetch Rewards app, and then you are done. With Ibotta, it’s more like clipping coupons and takes a little more time, but you may be able to earn a little more with Ibotta.
The great thing is that you can use the same exact grocery receipt for both Fetch and Ibotta. So if you have the time, you can try using both to earn even more rewards and free gift cards. This will allow you to increase your earnings by doing very little extra work.
Here’s how Ibotta works:
With Ibotta, you simply create an Ibotta account, unlock rebates and rewards, go shopping, verify your purchases, and then get cash.
You can redeem rebates from over hundreds of stores, such as Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, Walgreens, Home Depot, Old Navy, Chewy, and more.
You can also earn cash back online and in-store with Ibotta.
Ibotta is one of the easiest money making apps because you’re making money shopping like you normally do. They pay in cash or gift cards to Amazon, Starbucks, and other stores.
Is Fetch legit? – Fetch Rewards Reviews
Yes, Fetch Rewards is legitimate.
I looked through other online Fetch app reviews and found it’s rated 4.8/5 in the App Store with over 2,600,000 ratings.
In the Google Play store, the average Fetch app review is 4.6/5 stars with over 475,000 reviews on Fetch rewards and over 10,000,000 downloads.
You can see even more Fetch Rewards reviews on Trustpilot.
How do I contact Fetch Rewards?
If you have any questions or concerns with Fetch Rewards, you can contact them at [email protected].
You can also go to your app, click on the “Me” tab on the bottom, then click on “Help Center,” then “Contact Us.”
Here’s a screenshot of my Fetch Rewards Account. In 2 months, I have earned 55,566 points, which is equal to a little over $50 in free gift cards.
My Fetch Rewards Review
I hope you enjoyed my Fetch Rewards review. I have been using it for several months now and it is very easy to use.

50 best ways to make quick money in one day
Making money quickly is possible with some time and effort.
There are a lot of ways to make quick money in one day. In fact, many ideas center around how to make money online for beginners.
Here are 50 of the best methods that you can use to make some extra cash.
1. Work on freelance projects
Working on freelance projects can help you make quick money in one day by providing you with one-off jobs that can benefit from your skill set.
With the percentage of freelance workers in the workforce climbing steadily, there are many online marketplaces that make it easy to connect with businesses and individuals who need your services.
Sites like Upwork, Fiverr, and Toptal allow you to create a profile and showcase your work, making it easy for you to set your own rates and decide on the length of the project.
Additionally, the more experience you get, the more you can charge and the higher your demand will be, potentially leading to full-time work.
2. Sell items on consignment
Selling items on consignment can help you make quick money by providing an easy, fast way to earn a profit from gently used items.
With consignment shops, you can take your clothes, electronics, jewelry, musical instruments, or even your car to be sold without having to take an active role.
For a cut of the profits, your items will be placed in front of buyers, allowing you to make quick cash.
3. Take on odd jobs
If you’re looking for ways to make money quickly, odd jobs are a great way to do so.
Think of day laborer types of jobs. You can use an app like TaskRabbit to find work in your area.
Some of the common odd jobs you can consider include:
Gardening – you can offer to do gardening work such as weeding, planting, mowing, and trimming.
Furniture Assembly – if you have experience in assembling furniture, you can offer your services to people who need help.
Cleaning – you can offer cleaning services to keep homes and offices tidy.
Painting – you can offer your painting services to those who need help with their walls.
General Handyman Work – if you are good with your hands and have experience in repairing and fixing things, you can offer your services to people who need help.
Moving Gig – people are always looking for help with moving.
4. Trade Options
If done correctly, trading in options can help you make quick money and generate substantial returns in a relatively short period of time.
However, trading options come from experience and should not be taken as a get-rich scheme. Personally, I trade options for a living.
You can make quick money trading options if you know what you’re doing. The key is to identify when the market is going to move in a certain direction and then make the right trades to capitalize on the profits.
Here is the one and only investing course I recommend.

The holidays are time for family. Here are some ideas from our friends at Quotacy on how to make the most of this holiday season with your loved ones.
Save more, spend smarter, and make your money go further
The holiday season is a very hectic time, and if you’re not careful, it can easily sneak up on you. If you’re like me, you’ve entered November without much money set aside for gifts or celebrations and you’re starting to sweat about your budget.
Scrambling for cash during the holidays can feel like treading water, but there are lots of opportunities to save money and cut costs if you know where to look.
Make a budget and stick to it
Setting limits on how much you’re willing to spend for each person on your list will help keep you focused on getting the most out of your holiday budget.
Speaking from experience, my family typically sets limits on how much you’re allowed to spend on one another – $50 max for your immediate family, $20 max for any extended family.
In practice, those limits tend to become more like guidelines, but they can help you set a baseline budget to plan for during the holiday months.
Start shopping ASAP
The longer you’re on the hunt for deals, the more likely you are to stumble across them. If you can get started before December actually begins, you can scoop up a few amazing deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Keeping your eyes peeled early on in the holiday season can give you more time to consider exactly what you want to get for each person. Being alert and keeping an eye on those items will help you pounce on flash deals as they come up.
Automate your savings
If you’ve got a savings account that offers automatic deposits, cranking up the rate at which money goes in can help you grow a holiday budget without even thinking about it.
When I need to save money in the short term, I tend to pump up my weekly contributions to my savings account. This helps me lock my money away until I’m sure I want to spend it.
Cancel a few subscriptions
Even though cold, snowy days are perfect for curling up on the couch and bingeing a show on Netflix or Hulu, taking a month-long break from a few of your subscription services can help give you a bit more breathing room for gifts and events.
Pick one service you absolutely can’t live without to keep you entertained, and use the subscription fees for the rest of them to spruce up your holiday party with a few extra treats. Then, when you come back to them in January, you’ll have a whole new set of shows to power through.
Cut down on trips out
This is an evergreen savings suggestion, but during the holidays, opting to stay in could help you save more than just the price of dinner.
If you’re in an area that gets snow, the increased traffic will make each trip out burn through more fuel. Additionally, bad weather increases your odds of being involved in an accident, so staying in can often mean staying safe.
Check your pockets
If you’re like me, you’ve probably forgotten about some of the things in your wallet. However, taking the time to dig past your go-to cards can reveal some hidden treasures.
First off: Gift cards. Got 5 bucks left at Starbucks? Surprise a family member with a bag of nice coffee. $3 left over at Target? That’s a couple of candy bars to fill a stocking.
If you’ve got rewards points or cash back built up on your cards, the holidays can be a good time to spend them. Performing a self-audit on your wallet can help you discover money that you didn’t know you had.
Combine your orders
Do you ever notice how stores start promoting big purchase sales around the holidays? “Spend over $300 and get 15% off!” This helps them incentivize shoppers to spend more. You can take advantage of this by teaming up with a friend to get both of your holiday shopping done at once.
In addition to saving more on a bulk order, you’ll be able to take full advantage of BOGO deals without having to find somewhere to put the second item.
Who knows, you might catch them eyeing something they want, and be able to take another trip back and cross them off your list.
Look everywhere for coupons and deals
Everyone knows about online coupons these days, but there are many more ways to save if you know where to look.
Digging through your junk mail can be a good way to scoop up deals from local stores. Local businesses will also offer discounts via local newspapers and magazines as well, so popping by a magazine rack can help you track down deals in your area.
Many crafters, artists, and other small creators who own Etsy stores or eBay accounts are also looking to make a bit of last-minute money to spend on their families.
Established creators often put their excess stock on sale in the weeks before the end of the year, and many artists take extra commissions to help them pay for their own celebrations.
Buy (or make) a few cheap “quickie” gifts
Going out and tracking down trinkets for everyone in your office can be time consuming, and it’ll drain your holiday savings, too.
Instead, taking one trip and buying several of the same inexpensive gift at once can help you be sure you aren’t empty handed when a surprise gift-giver catches you off-guard.
For example, you can wrap up cocoa packets, candy canes, and mini marshmallows, then give them out as instant cocoa sets. For bonus points, head to a thrift store and buy a few mugs to include as well.
Turn your holiday parties into pot lucks
Another perennial favorite – pot lucks! If you’re hosting a dinner party, asking your guests to help out with dishes can add variety to the meal, as well as saving you money.
Have your guests bring hot food in crock pots, or let them show up early with food that’s ready to cook. Appetizers and finger food work great for this, and a menu made out of those options often ends up being more fun than a sit-down dinner.
Change up your gift-giving traditions
Instead of spreading yourself thin to get your entire family or office gifts, organizing a secret Santa pool can help you focus on finding something meaningful for one person in particular.
If organizing a secret Santa exchange is too complicated, a white elephant party is a fun way to recycle old gifts you’ve never gotten around to using. Who knows, your secondhand waffle iron might be exactly what someone wants!

Let’s #TalkAboutMoney with The Financial Diet
By Peter Anderson15 Comments – The content of this website often contains affiliate links and I may be compensated if you buy through those links (at no cost to you!). Learn more about how we make money. Last edited August 28, 2017.
One thing my wife and I have been doing lately is to try spending less on entertainment and “fun money” than we have in the past. We know if we want to get ahead we need to cut down on those miscellaneous entertainment dollars.
Cutting down on those dollars doesn’t mean we can’t have any fun, however. Here’s a few ways that we’re having fun, on a budget.
Game Night
We’ve started having game nights, both with each other, and with our friends. It makes for a fun night, and once you purchase some games, doesn’t cost anything additional! Here are a few of our favorite games that we’ve been playing lately. Most of these games can be bought for between $20-30 on Amazon, or slightly cheaper used on ebay or craigslist.
Settlers of Catan: Settlers of Catan was one of those games I wasn’t sure that I was going to enjoy. It seemed a little strange, something that only people who enjoy role playing games would enjoy. Boy was I wrong! This game is so much fun that I bought an arcade version for our Xbox as well! Plus, there are a ton of expansion packs that can keep this game fresh for years to come. From Amazon: The Settlers of Catan from Mayfair Games is an award-winning strategy game where players collect resources and use them to build roads, settlements and cities on their way to victory. The board itself is variable, making each game a little different from the next. Each round of The Settlers of Catan is intended to keep three or four players ages 10 and above engaged for up to 90 minutes.
Carcassonne: Carcassonne is another European style board game that has refreshingly different and never dull game play. From Amazon: The Carcassonne is a clever tile-laying game. The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique roman and medieval fortifications. The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious. The game is for ages 8 and up and 2 to 5 players.
Blokus: We just bought Blokus over Christmas using gift cards we had received. You can think of the game as a sort of the board game equivalent of Tetris. You have 4 teams all trying to fit their differently shaped blocks into the board. Whoever fits the most of their pieces into the board wins! There’s a lot of strategy involved, and its surprisingly fun to play! From Amazon: Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game.
Ticket To Ride: Ticket to ride is another board game that really is quite a bit different from a lot of the board games we have become used to here in the U.S. I’ve played this on the Xbox 360 as well, and it’s a lot of fun! From Amazon: Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure where players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America.
Farkle: Farkel is a fun game for parties where you pass around a cup of dice, trying to score on different combinations of dice. It’s a fun, and sometimes frustrating game! From Amazon: Farkel is a fun, fast-paced, high-score game that takes just two minutes to learn. You roll six dice, remove only the dice you want to use for points, then re-roll the remaining dice. Some scoring dice must be removed after every roll. If you can eventually make all six dice count for score, pick them all up and keep going. If none of the dice you roll count for score, you lose your turn and any points you made during that turn. The first player to score more than 10,000 points, wins.
The Great Dalmuti: The Great Dalmuti is a fun fast paced card game where the whole goal is to become a part of the Dalmuti ruling class. The game is easy to learn, and can quickly turn into an all night game. From Amazon: The deck is dealt out to all players and the object is to get rid of your cards as fast as possible. The person who first got rid of all his cards becomes The Great Dalmuti. Seat positions change and the cards are re-dealt. Quite a unique game in which no score is kept.

In sad sad news for discount shoppers, Tuesday Morning, the Dallas-based home and lifestyle goods chain, is closing its stores nationwide, after it previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February 2023.
The chain is hosting a going-out-of-business sale at all stores in 25 states across the U.S. Shoppers can save up to 30 percent off the lowest ticketed prices across the stores on a wide variety of home decor.
Tuesday Morning was one of the original off-price retailers specializing in name-brand, high-quality products for the home, including textiles, home furnishings, housewares, gourmet food, toys, and seasonal décor, at prices below those found in department stores, catalogs, or on-line retailers. They opened their first store in 1974.
The sale will include discounted home décor for every room like bedding, bath, furniture, lamps, and kitchen; plus toys, pet supplies, luggage, beauty, crafts, seasonal decorations, and more.
Shoppers are advised to take advantage of the new price reductions and bid farewell to this iconic retailer.
Select fixtures, furnishings, and equipment will also be available for sale.
Gift cards will be honored through May 13. All sales are final.
Merchandise purchased prior to April 28, 2023, may be returned within 14 days of the purchase date with the original receipt and in accordance with usual policies.

Update 12/12/22: You should see a manual adjustment for the missing More Rewards points. It’ll show as a separate line-item sometime at the end of November. For me it happened on November 25th, others are seeing November 28th.
Update 11/21/22: I was told by BofA Twitter support that everyone will be getting credited within 12 weeks for transactions that were processed on the 5th and are showing a later date. I’m just holding tight and hope it comes through automatically.
Transaction dates are provided to the bank by the merchant; however, this date may differ from when the merchant authorized a charge. As a courtesy, in addition to all charges with a transaction date of Nov. 5 being awarded an incremental <2%, 2 miles or 2 points>, the bank will also award the bonus on purchases that were authorized on Nov. 5 but have a transaction date later than Nov. 5. It may take up to 12 weeks for qualified courtesy adjustments to be applied.
I asked them whether they need my personal info to identify my account and issue the credit. They replied:
This will happen automatically. If after 12 weeks, you do not see the adjustment, please reach out so we can research your account farther.
Update 11/8/22: Bonus points are reflecting for most purchase. However, BofA apparently messed up for transactions posted near midnight and are not crediting bonus rewards, even for those transactions that clearly reflected as charged in the BofA system before midnight. For me, a transaction a little after 11pm got the bonus, but two transactions in the final 15 minutes of the day did not get rewards, despite both showing the pending transaction already before midnight. Others report that some transactions from earlier in the day are having this issue as well. I’ve reached out to BofA twitter support, we’ll see how those goes.
Update 11/5/22: Ends at 11:59pm Eastern Time (ET) on November 5, 2022
Update 11/4/22: This promo goes live tomorrow. Worth putting some thought into where you can pay out to maximize this deal. You might also want to pay down your BofA cards now to clear up the credit limits.

Our Verdict
Interesting promotion, wow! If you have a card that already earns a competitive rate, this will make it even better. Some examples of where this can be a great deal:
The Travel Rewards, Premium Rewards, and Unlimited Cash Rewards cards earn 1.5% on all purchases. On November 5th you’ll get an extra 2% for 3.5% total everywhere.
This is especially interesting for top-tier Preferred Rewards relationship clients who always get 2.62% on all purchases with these cards and will get 4.62% everywhere on November 5th.
Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card always gets 3% on one category of your choice (or 5.25% for Preferred Rewards clients) and 2% on grocery/wholesale (3.5% for Preferred Rewards clients) on up to $2,500 in purchases. On November 5th it’ll be 2% on top of that. That’s a potential total of 7.25% on your chosen category for top-tier Preferred Rewards clients.
Earn 3x miles per dollar everywhere on the Alaska Airlines card.
Apply for a new Bank of America card now and you’ll hopefully have the card by November 5th when you can meet the minimum spend at increased earn rates.

Some tips:
If you want to hit this hard, try getting your credit limit as high as possible in advance of November 5th.
Consider paying taxes with the credit card convenience fee of around 2% on November 5th and you’ll still come out ahead.
Pay out any utility bills, medical bills, insurance premiums, charity donations on November 5th.
Some people might want to manufacture spend, e.g. purchase $500 Visa gift cards, on November 5th.
Let us know your own suggestions in the comments below (we are aware that the comments aren’t working right now for most people).
Chase announced today a ‘Month of More’ with the month of May having increased redemption rates and higher portal rates:
Redeem Ultimate Rewards points for Apple products at increased rates. This includes 1.5 cents rate on the Sapphire Reserve, 1.25 cents on the Sapphire Preferred and INK Preferred, and 1.1 cents on the Freedom and other no-annual-fee cards. Now that PYB 1.5 cents is dead, this might be more interesting to some people.
Redeem Ultimate Rewards points for select gift cards at a 10-15% discount. The most interesting one here is Home Depot at a 10% discount. There are a few other brands like Chipotle, Gap, Applebee’s, and a few others as well.
Increased shopping portal rates on select brands like 5% at Walmart/Sam’s, 10% at Nike and Lowe’s, and a few more. I typically just compare on cashbackmonitor before making a purchase.
Sign-up Bonus: Earn 20,000 bonus points (worth $200 when redeemed for cash) when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first three months.
Regular Rewards Rate: Unlimited 1x point on eligible purchases
Bonus Rewards Rate: Unlimited 3x points on eligible purchases at restaurants, travel vendors, gas and EV charging stations, transit providers (including rideshare), popular streaming services, and phone plans
Annual Fee: $0
Intro APR: 0% APR for 12 months on purchases, then variable APR applies (currently 19.74%, 24.74%, or 29.74%)
Lots of rewards credit cards pick a lane and stick with it. They offer bonus cash back or points on purchases at restaurants, or vehicle fueling stations, or travel vendors — but not all three.
The Wells Fargo Autograph Card is a little different, in a good way. It pays bonus rewards points on restaurant, fuel, and travel purchases, plus purchases in three more popular spending categories. Which makes it one of the better credit cards for everyday spending.
Like every credit card, the Autograph Card has some downsides and isn’t appropriate for everyone. So before you rush to apply, review its most important features and make sure it really does work for you.
What Is the Wells Fargo Autograph Card?
The Wells Fargo Autograph Card is a rewards credit card that earns 3 points per $1 spent on purchases in six spending categories:
Restaurants
Travel
Gas and EV charging
Transit (including ride-hailing services like Uber)
Popular streaming services
Phone plans
The Autograph Card has no annual fee or foreign transaction fee. It has two enticing features for new cardholders as well: a generous spend-based sign-up bonus and 0% intro purchase APR for 12 months from account opening.
What Sets the Wells Fargo Autograph Card Apart?
While it’s a stretch to call the Autograph Card unique, it does have a few notable selling points:
Lots of 3x rewards categories. The Autograph Card has six 3x rewards categories. Most are quite broad: travel, transit, and restaurants, for example. And the narrower ones, like popular streaming services and phone plans, are still quite popular.
Impressive lineup of value-added benefits. For a no-annual-fee credit card, the Autograph Card has an impressive lineup of value-added benefits. Notables include complimentary cell phone protection and premium perks at properties in the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection, which is usually reserved for cards with annual fees.
Easily attainable sign-up bonus. The Autograph Card’s sign-up bonus isn’t worth a fortune, but it’s easy for even moderate spenders to attain.
Key Features of the Wells Fargo Autograph Card
The Wells Fargo Autograph Card is a well-rounded rewards credit card with an above-average sign-up bonus, a generous rewards program, and no annual fee.
Sign-up Bonus
Earn 20,000 bonus points (worth $200 when redeemed for cash) when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first three months.
Earning Rewards
The Autograph Card earns unlimited 3 points per $1 spent on purchases in six spending categories:
Restaurants, including dining in, takeout, delivery, and catering
Travel, including airfare, hotel bookings, car rentals, and cruises
Gas and EV charging, including nonfuel purchases at stations
Local transportation (transit), including public transportation, ride-hailing, parking, and road tolls
Popular streaming services, including video and audio streaming
Phone plans, including cell and landline services
All other eligible purchases earn unlimited 1 point per $1 spent. There’s no limit to how much you can earn and rewards don’t expire as long as your account remains open.
Redeeming Rewards
The best way to redeem is for statement credits against prior eligible purchases. The minimum redemption for this method is $1.
You can also redeem for gift cards from dozens of major vendors, starting at $25. However, you must redeem in $25 increments, so this isn’t the most efficient option.
Finally, you can redeem for travel purchased through Wells Fargo, including flights, car rentals, and hotel stays. If you don’t have enough rewards to cover the full cost of your booking, you can combine points and cash.
0% APR Introductory Promotion
Purchases made during the first 12 months accrue no interest (0% APR). After that, variable regular APR applies — currently 19.74%, 24.74%, or 29.74%, depending on prevailing rates and your creditworthiness.
There’s no corresponding balance transfer promotion. Balance transfers accrue interest at the regular APR from day one.
Additional Benefits
The Autograph Card has an impressive lineup of additional benefits. Highlights include:
Cell phone protection. This benefit is worth up to $600 per claim, less a $25 deductible, when you pay your cell phone bill in full with your Autograph Card. Earning 3x rewards on phone plan payments should incentivize you to do just that.
Free FICO scores and tracking. Wells Fargo’s Credit Close-up feature provides monthly FICO score updates with personalized insights. It’s a functional alternative to a paid credit monitoring service.
Luxury Hotel Collection benefits. When you stay at any of the hundreds of Luxury Hotel Collection properties worldwide, you’re entitled to complimentary benefits like free or discounted meals, resort fee credits, equipment rentals, and more. Benefits vary by property and you do still need to pay for your room, but you could save several hundred dollars total on a multiday stay.
Important Fees
The Autograph Card has no annual fee or foreign transaction fee. Balance transfers cost the greater of $5 or 3% of the transfer amount for 120 days from account opening, then jump to 5% of the transfer amount.
Credit Required
The Autograph Card requires good to excellent credit. If your credit score is below 700, you may have trouble getting approved.
Advantages
The Autograph Card’s biggest advantages revolve around its expansive rewards program, to include its sign-up bonus. There’s more to like about this card too.
Earn $200 as a sign-up bonus. The Autograph Card has an above-average sign-up bonus with a very manageable spend requirement over three months. Most new cardholders will have no trouble earning it.
12 months at 0% APR on purchases. The Autograph Card has a 0% intro APR on purchases for a full year from account opening. While not as long as some competing cards, this is long enough to avoid interest on purchases much larger than you can afford to pay off all at once.
Six 3x rewards categories, most of which are broad. The Autograph Card’s broad 3x rewards categories set it apart from most other no-annual-fee rewards cards. Restaurants, travel, local transportation, streaming, phone plans — you get it all with this card.
No annual fee. The Autograph Card has no annual fee. This is a big advantage if you don’t plan to use it as your primary credit card.
No foreign transaction fee. The Autograph Card charges no fees for international transactions. This is a benefit both for folks who regularly travel abroad and those who buy stuff from international merchants.
Lots of additional benefits, like cell phone protection. The Autograph Card has a broad lineup of value-added benefits that come at no direct cost to cardholders. Some competing no-annual-fee cards lack complimentary cell phone protection, for example, and few offer Luxury Hotel Collection benefits.
Disadvantages
The Autograph Card has few notable downsides, but a couple bear mention. In particular, you’ll want to make sure the rewards program aligns with your spending habits.
Low baseline rewards rate. The Autograph’s baseline rewards rate is just 1 point per $1 spent — a 1% return on spending. Plenty of no-annual-fee rewards cards do better than that, offering 1.5% or even 2% back on base spending.
Some important categories missing from the 3x tier. The Autograph Card has six 3x rewards categories, most of them broad. But this tier is missing some important ones, notably groceries.
No 0% APR intro offer on balance transfers. The Autograph Card’s intro purchase APR isn’t matched by a corresponding balance transfer offer. That’s a shame because many competing rewards credit cards package both together.
How the Wells Fargo Autograph Card Stacks Up
The Autograph Card is just one of several rewards credit cards that earn above-average returns on restaurant, travel, and local transportation purchases.
One of its best-known competitors is the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express, which earns 3% cash-back on eligible U.S. gas station purchases. Before you apply for either, see how they compare.
Wells Fargo Autograph
Amex Blue Cash Preferred
Local Transportation Rewards
3x rewards on gas and EV charging purchases, 3x rewards on local transit purchases

Other Bonus Categories
3x rewards on restaurant, travel, popular streaming, and phone plan purchases
6% cash back on up to $6,000 in U.S. supermarket purchases each year (1% thereafter), 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions

Final Word
The Wells Fargo Autograph Card has an unusually generous rewards program, an above-average sign-up bonus, and a strong (if not category-leading) 0% intro APR offer on purchases — all with no annual fee.
In other words, the Autograph Card has a lot going for it. But has a few flaws too. Notably, its baseline rewards rate is low (just 1%) and it has no introductory balance transfer offer, which is a big selling point for some competing cards.
You’ll have to decide whether Autograph’s negatives outweigh its positives. For more would-be cardholders, the answer is “no,” but you’re the only one who can say for sure.
